Jerry and Marie Cunningham Fund to Advance Care at UT Southwestern

Jerry and Marie Cunningham Fund to Advance Care at UT Southwestern

Jerry and Marie Cunningham

Jerry Cunningham was inspired to make a $100,000 gift to Southwestern Medical Foundation by the quality of care his late wife, Marie, received at the medical center during her prolonged battle with heart and lung disease. He made his gift in the form of a charitable gift annuity, and when he died in 2011, the proceeds from the gift were used to establish the Jerry and Marie Cunningham Fund at the Foundation.

Mr. Cunningham made his gift in honor of Marie to enhance internal medicine, cardiology and pulmonary care programs at UT Southwestern. In an interview in 2006, Mr. Cunningham, an investor and retired oil company executive, said, "We are so grateful for the wonderful care Marie received at UT Southwestern and were so impressed by the compassion of the doctors and staff."
